About

Welcome to seniorDECISION’s blog, where we share the latest news, research and thoughts on senior care and housing with our consumers and providers alike.  Our mission is to help as many people as possible make decisions about home health, retirement living, assisted living, and nursing home options.  We hope that you contribute to this blog by commenting on something that got your attention – whether it made you ask a question or otherwise excited you!

Also, if you know of a loved one that has had an experience with senior housing or care, please write a review today to help build our database of provider reviews!  It only takes 5 minutes (we promise!) and all reviews are welcome, positive or otherwise. And please tell your friends and colleagues about this blog, especially if they are considering housing or care options for an elderly friend or family member.

Sincerely, Jennifer & Rob, Co-Founders

  1. I agree that a major problem for many people living in Senior’s or Retirement facilities, is lack of purpose. One of the problems is that families are scattered across the continent and there is little opportunity for Grandparents to do the occasional babysitting or remain part of the active family.
A number of years ago I looked after an elderly couple who had Ranched all their lives and recently moved into the City. We were able to establish a raised garden bed in the back yard and that provided hours of productive activity for a whole Spring and Summer.
I also know from personal experience that it is so very much easier to do daily care and activity planning with someone elses parents and not your own.
Clothing that fits properly (for people who use wheelchairs) or is easy to put on (for People with Alzheimers) is another major issue and through the work of Fashion Moves I am working to create a bridge between the Fashion/Garment Industry and People with disabilities. Lets explore ways we can work together.
